Upcoming Match
Bristol Rovers will host Newport County on Saturday at The Quarters. The Gas are still recovering from a 3-2 opening-day loss to York City, where Clinton Mola opened the scoring and Tommy Leigh equalised in the 79th minute. The side will look to build on a 3-0 win over Rochdale last weekend and a double over Newport County in the previous season, beating them 3-2 at Rodney Parade and 3-0 at The Mem.
Injury Updates
Ellis Harrison has returned to training but remains non-contact; his inclusion in the 18-man squad will be decided after Friday’s session. "He's back in training, but he's been non-contact… we'll see if Ellis can put himself in shape," manager Steve Evans said. Promise Omochere has re-joined the squad and will train fully on Monday; he could be available for the upcoming EFL Trophy tie against Chelsea. "Promise is back on the grass, he'll train fully on Monday…" Evans added. Ryan Howley has completed three days of full training and is expected to be match-fit after a week of work. "He's back in full training… we wanted to give him a full week of training," Evans explained.
Team Selection
Tom James, Ciaran Kelly and Ben Purrington were omitted from the squad for the match against York City due to selection, not injury. "Steve Evans clarified that the omissions were due to selection and not injury-related," the club noted.
