Arsenal are set to complete a double transfer of Manchester United prospects James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye. Scanlon, a Leicester-born winger, has earned 24 senior caps for Gibraltar. At 17, he became the youngest goalscorer in the UEFA Nations League, netting against Liechtenstein in September 2024. A Derby academy product, he joined Man Utd in 2021 and made his U21 debut in 2023. Despite being named in a senior Man Utd squad for the Europa League in March 2025, he remains a youth squad regular. Scanlon spent the 2024-25 season with Swindon Town, scoring once in six League Two appearances.
Ogunneye, 20, is a right-back who joined Man Utd’s academy at 15. After a loan at Newport County, he made 21 appearances across all competitions, including FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches. His loan at Newport came after a controversial EFL Trophy clash against Arsenal’s U21s, where he conceded a penalty. Ogunneye is now a key figure in a potential England vs Nigeria international battle, with England U21 boss Lee Carsley highlighting his future potential.
