Newport County will host Reading FC in a pre-season friendly at Rodney Parade on July 28. The match will be a test for both teams ahead of the new season. Newport County are managed by former Premier League-winning defender Christian Fuchs and secured their Football League status on the final day of the 2025/26 season thanks to a 2-0 victory over Barrow. Reading will then travel to Crawley on July 31 to face Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium, kicking off at 7:30pm. Crawley narrowly avoided back-to-back relegations last season, securing their place in the division with a goalless draw against Salford on the final day of the campaign. The fixture marks Reading's first visit to Crawley since the Red Devils' relegation from League One in 2024/25. With the new season fast approaching, Reading FC has confirmed that it will be selecting from and taking a full squad of first-team players to both the Crawley away game and the final pre-season match against Charlton Athletic at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on August 1. Ticket details for both away fixtures will be announced in due course.
