Newport County announce Celtic Manor Resort partnership for squad fitness

Newport County have formed a partnership with Celtic Manor Resort to provide players and staff with access to leisure facilities for health and fitness support throughout the season.

Newport County have announced a new partnership with Celtic Manor Resort to support the health and fitness of their squad and staff. The deal provides access to the resort's leisure facilities for recovery and team-building events.

Chief executive Sam Houldsworth welcomed Celtic Manor Resort to the club's family. He highlighted the practical benefits the facilities will offer for player wellbeing during a demanding League Two campaign.

The club currently sits 16th in the table with 15 points from 13 games, having recorded three wins, six draws and four defeats. Their recent form includes a 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham last Friday, a result that leaves them 13 points adrift of the automatic promotion places. The team's goal difference stands at zero, having scored and conceded 16 goals. The partnership is seen as a timely boost, offering enhanced recovery resources as the team prepares for its next fixtures challenge at home to seventh-placed Chesterfield this Friday. The match kicks off at 19:45.

Local collaboration strengthens ties

Dan Williams, a representative of Celtic Manor Resort, expressed his organisation's delight at partnering with Newport County AFC. He described the link as a natural fit between two prominent city organisations, reinforcing the club's commitment to local enterprise.

The resort, located a short distance from Rodney Parade, is South Wales's leading leisure and hospitality destination. The agreement will see its facilities used for pre-game meetings and club events, including the Hall of Fame evening in the Caernarfon Suite.

Wellness focus for season challenges

With the team handling a mid-table position and a run of one win, three draws and one defeat in their last five matches, the additional support is aimed at aiding physical preparation. The club's recent 1-0 loss at Cheltenham Town saw the decisive goal scored in the 61st minute. This followed a 2-2 draw at Rotherham where Harrison Biggins and Gerard Garner were on target, and a 1-1 home draw with York. The club thanked Celtic Manor Resort for its backing and said it looks forward to working together throughout the season.

The facilities will be available for the squad's preparations ahead of the Chesterfield fixture on 30 October. Newport County's full squad list and current standings are available on the club's official pages.
