Newport County have completed their summer transfer business with three new signings on deadline day. The League Two club have brought in Michael Adu-Poku, Kion Etete and Matty Jacob, taking their total new arrivals for the window to 15 players.

Manager Hayden Mullins has overseen a major squad overhaul following the club's narrow escape from relegation last season under Christian Fuchs. The triple signing provides Mullins with fresh options across the pitch. Newport currently sit 14th in League Two with four points from their opening four games, recording one win, one draw and two losses.

Michael Adu-Poku joins from Watford. The 20-year-old forward made a substitute appearance for the Hornets in their 5-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Peterborough. He has previous loan experience at Rochdale, Wealdstone, Barrow and Solihull Moors. Kion Etete arrives from Cardiff City, where the 24-year-old striker scored nine goals across his first two seasons. He has also had loan spells at Bolton, Rotherham United and St Mirren.

Matty Jacob is the third addition, joining on loan from Hull City until January. The 25-year-old left-back made 16 appearances during a loan spell at Reading last season before returning to Hull in January and playing five times as the Tigers secured promotion to the Premier League. His arrival gives Mullins another versatile option out wide after the return of fellow winger Nyakuhwa for a second loan spell at Rodney Parade.

The signings bring Newport's total number of loan players to six, including Alfie Merritt from Bournemouth and Matt Dibley-Dias. Under EFL regulations, clubs are only allowed to name five loanees in a matchday squad, meaning Mullins will have to make a selection decision each week. The manager now has considerable depth to work with as he looks to improve upon the team's current league position.

Newport's season has begun with mixed results, reflected in their LDLW form. They have scored nine goals and conceded nine, leaving them with a zero goal difference. They trail league leaders Bristol Rovers by five points in the early title race. Fans can track the team's progress on our standings page.

Hayden Mullins must now integrate his large group of new signings quickly. With 15 fresh faces arriving over the summer, building cohesion will be essential. The squad also has to contend with the absence of Tom Davies, who is injured and unavailable for selection. The manager's immediate task is to turn the team's solid goal output into more consistent results.

The club's summer rebuild is now complete, and the focus shifts entirely to performances on the pitch. Supporters can view the full updated roster on our squad page. Matty Jacob's loan deal from Hull City runs until the beginning of January 2027.
